In the worlds before Casual Empire, primal chaos reigned.

For years they have lived among us, observing our ways, recording our customs, insinuating themselves into our homes, offices and backyard barbecues.

Mastering the dark art of melody-based, stylistically confused, overwrought and lyrically hyperactive songwriting.

Think, 'union of opposites in a light, tasty broth' - yin and yang, fire and ice, Scotty from Marketing and the purple-faced Akubra-wearing sex meatball.

Such are the cosmic forces harnessed by Shanye Inner-West and the Honourable Art Overload. One, the voice, personality and heart of the Empire; the Nice Guy; poster boy for poster boys everywhere. The other, the Empire’s silent, dark, seething brainbox, pickled in bitterness and unforgivably ornate syntax.

Fortunately for musical history and civilisation in general, the first fragrant flowering of Casual Empire has been recorded for posterity and made available for public consumption in the form of their debut album Please Stop Trying to Get My Attention and its misbegotten offspring, “Getting the Band Back Together.” Available wherever good thingummies are streamed.
